Apart from this, you will also be able to enjoy an exciting city life in the island, especially in its capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This is a city that has one of the best climates in the world, and it is a cosmopolitan and dynamic centre, where you will find everything you can imagine. Shopping centres and leisure zones; streets to wander along, perfect for shopping and sightseeing; museums, theatres, and open air squares where big concerts are held; a pulsating nightlife with nightclubs, bars and restaurants: all in all, a long list of activities so that each day of your holiday is different, if that is what you want

Gran Canaria

The wonderful Gran Canaria weather makes the southern resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas very popular, both connected by an 8km stretch of superb sandy beach, backed by sand dunes. Maspalomas offers a slightly more relaxing base than the bustling resort of Playa del Ingles, where you will find plenty of lively bars, English pubs, clubs and discos. To the west you will find the sunnier resort of Puerto Rico with plenty of water sports and a party vibe. San Agustin and Playa del Cura are relaxed and friendly Gran Canaria holiday resorts, whilst the capital, Las Palmas is great for shopping, nightlife and sight seeing

Having said that, Gran Canaria offers the visitor other types of activities. The western half of the island is a Biosphere Reserve, which makes it ideal for those visitors who prefer a quieter stay, more in contact with the natural settings to be found in its 33 protected areas. Windsurfing is particularly popular on Gran Canaria island, with the world championships often held in Pozo Izquierdo. Other pastime favourites on Gran Canaria holidays include sailing, scuba diving, hiking, fishing, motorised water sports and camel rides. Theme parks and water parks prove to be very popular with families on Gran Canaria.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a privileged city because of multiple reasons. Its strategic location in the Atlantic Ocean as well as being the main city in the archipelago makes it an unavoidable point to visit if you want to appreciate the Canary Islands deeply. Its distinct commercial character in addition to its increasing and varied cultural offer (theatre, auditoriums, cinema and music festivals, open-air spectacles, such as the WOMAD festival,...) have made this city an indispensable destiny for, either textiles or electronic shoppings. If we add to this the fact that it has lovely beaches on its two shores (Canteras and Alcaravaneras), both of them with wide promenades, we find a ctiy that is, not only modern and hospitable, but also the perfect starting point to know our archipelago.
